Close, But No Cigar

These are the menus for my short film, Close, Bit No Cigar. Based on the opening title sequence of the
film, the menus are completely in black & white, except for the burning end of the cigar while is glowing
red for a just a touch of color. At the end of the clip is a sample of the Blu-ray pop-up menu as well.
For more information about the film, you can download standard or high definition versions for
your iPod or iPad, or watch the entire movie online by clicking the Close, But No Cigar link above.

Public Interest

(Click the play button on the image above to activate the QuickTime movie.)

These are the menus I made for director Brad Robinson's independent feature film, Public Interest.
The film is about a reality show where the contestants are forced to live with each other, Big Brother
style, but with the addition of shock collars to make sure the contestants don't wander too far from the
house. Only the main menu had a slight bit of motion to open it up. The rest of the still menus can
be viewed by clicking here. Public Interest is now available on DVD for sale over at Amazon.com.

Savin' Up For Saturday Night

(Click the play button on the image above to activate the QuickTime movie.)

This is the main menu I made for a promotional DVD and Blu-ray disc of Savin' Up For Saturday Night.
I shot and edited a complete performance of the show and put this disc together as a tool to help find
a future home for the show, as well as provide a keepsake for the cast and crew. The other menus for
the disc are still menus that feature song selection chapter markers,
and a brief informational page about the show.

5:19 To Molina

(Click the play button on the image above to activate the QuickTime movie.)

5:19 To Molina is a short documentary that I directed that involved me going up against San Francisco Giants
starting catcher Bengie Molina in a timed race to first base. Shot and edited exclusively in 1080p, it is the first film
I've worked on to get a Blu-ray release ahead of the DVD. These are the menus for the DVD, which are identical
to the Blu-ray disc with the exception of the black lines in the background being closer together. Also, after the main
menu loop is a sample of the pop-up menu featured on the Blu-ray, which is a new feature introduced in Adobe
Encore CS4. The design itself is inspired by one of my favorite baseball card designs of all-time, the 1986 Donruss
series, with the color chosen from their limited edition Rookies set. For more information about the film, you can
download standard or high definition versions for your iPod or AppleTV, or watch the entire movie online by
clicking the 5:19 To Molina link above. Or just click here.

Mystere & Friends

(Click the play button on the image above to activate the QuickTime movie.)

Mystere & Friends was a stage show performed live and recorded with three cameras, sitcom-style.
Written & created by the very talented Jenelle Riley, it was originally conceived and performed as
part of Sacred Fools Theater's late-night Serial Killers series. Mystere & Friends was a full-length
variety show featuring some of the original sketches, and some new pieces as well. These menus were
created using stock backgrounds, and the stills were taken from frame captures from the edited show.

Expiration Date

(Click the play button on the image above to activate the QuickTime movie.)

These are the motion menus I created for a short film I made called, Expiration Date. Parodying Quentin
Tarantino's Death Proof, except with shopping carts instead of classic muscle cars, I created the color
scheme, shopping cart logo, and the title text all from scratch. The menus also include music
created specifically for the movie by a great friend and even greater musician, Ryan Sherman.
