Close, But No Cigar

Close, But No Cigar is a short dramatic film that I wrote and directed. This is the main title, consisting of a piece
of stock photography along with stock footage of various smoke effects. Warping one of those smoke layers,
I was able to simulate it wisping out from the end of the cigar. I also made it black & white, and added
some film grain and flicker for an old school touch. You can however, see the lit
end of the cigar is still a little bit red as a stylistic choice.

5:19 To Molina

5:19 To Molina is a short documentary that I directed that involved me going up against San Francisco Giants
starting catcher Bengie Molina in a timed race to first base. Shot and edited exclusively in 1080p, this is the main title,
inspired by Happy Madison Productions motion logo. For more information about the film, you can download
standard or high definition versions for your iPod or AppleTV, or watch the entire movie online by clicking
the 5:19 To Molina link above. Or just click here.

Contra

Contra is a short film created by Team Awesome, the same filmmakers responsible for the smash YouTube hit
(over 1,000,000 views) Punchout. Based on the classic NES videogame, I created various graphic elements for
the film, including lower thirds, character title cards, the famous cheat code entries, and the main title.

Forgetting Jason Segel

Forgetting Jason Segel is a short comedic film, written and directed by the talented Lauren Iungerich, and starring
the fantastic Barret Swatek. It tells the story of an ex-girlfriend of the star of Forgetting Sarah Marshall, and her attempt
to cope with his success when that film opens. The main title here is just some stock footage for a background,
and other graphic elements created in Adobe Photoshop, and manipulated in Adobe After Effects.

Race Dreams

Another main title for a web series pilot, this one proved to be more involved than my previous works,
as I had to cut out the wheels from the race car image I used, an place them on individual layers
in order animate their rotation. I also used the Trapcode Particular plug-in in Adobe After
Effects to create the effect of smoke coming from the race car's exhaust.

The Cheerleader Incident

This is the main title for a web series pilot. Revolving around a group of high school cheerleaders,
I wanted a very prep sports feel, so I used a font called Varsity, and placed it against
a background resembling a sports jersey.

Kari Okay

This is my first original motion graphic design using Adobe After Effects. Created as the main title for a
presentation video for a friend entering a contest, I used a microphone as an exclamation point, and
animated various other stock elements as well. And yes, that is the opening theme song from Superbad!

Team Awesome Logo

This is a logo I designed for the awesome team of Team Awesome. They have created such hits
as the Punchout Trailer for the Nintendo Shortcuts contest, as well as the followup, Contra.
You can watch the movies on their YouTube channel.
